Because.....

Because............ earlier this Summer, I bought one of these:

and (for when it became unbearably hot) one of these:




this is what happens:



For OVER TWO FRICKIN MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, I mustn't complain, as my troubles are few compared to the poor people who live here many of whom have lost almost everything due to flood water coming into their homes. It must be beyond horrible for them. Many have no running water or electricity and, according to news reports, it may not get much better for them for at least the next few weeks. It's scary to think that the weather can cause such destruction in a supposedly modern and highly civilised country. I don't know whether it's down to Global Warming, or whether it's just a freak bout of bad weather, but it does worry me, a lot, and it makes me appreciate the comfortable lifestyle that I enjoy even more, as it makes you realise that it could all be gone in an instant.

All I can say is that if you haven't got your name on the waiting list yet, DO IT NOW but be prepared. You won't get much knitting done for the first few days as it is one great big "timesuck" You have been warned!

On an actual knitting note, I have cast on my second Clapotis in Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb "Devon" which I want to take with me on my trip home to NZ in October. Given my inability to stick faithfully to one project at a time, I really must crack on with this immediately or it definitely won't be finished in time.

It came, it came! My invite to Ravelry was sitting in my inbox waiting for me this morning. I am soooo excited I can't tell you (I need to get a grip).

Right. I'm off to start taking pictures of my stash now. It's an exercise that could take quite some time...
